Parents need to ring the school office before 8.45am if their child is to be absent or late. There is an answer phone and the St Mary’s School App available for this purpose.
When your child is unwell please keep them at home to give them the best chance of recovery and to protect those at school. A note of explanation, or email, from the parents should be sent to school when the child returns.
If you are aware your child will be absent from school for an extended period please send a letter/email of explanation and dates prior to the event.
Teachers do not provide work for students when they are away sick or away for long periods.
Students are expected to remain in the grounds at all times from the time they arrive in the morning until 3pm. Should parents/caregivers wish to take their children during the day for appointments, they need to inform the teacher and office in writing/email of the time the student will be collected and returned, including the reason. When collecting the student parents/caregivers need to pick them up from the classroom. They are not permitted to wait at the gate for their parents/caregivers.
As part of our Health & Safety procedures we ask that any parents taking their child out of the school during the school day, are asked to sign their child out at the school office. Should their child return to school they need to be signed back in.
